Strictly No Idling

Yet another delivery to the workshop; a collection of goodies from our friends at MSC Direct, a 2M poster tube from the LED gurus at ecoled, 12 linear meters of aluminium and 6 of wenge. All to be consumed by customer and portfolio work before the year end.

That little lot isn't the end of it but represents at least 4 parallel projects - we're going to be busy!
This is not just a pile of bits, it's a sign that the next 2 months are going to be...busy

Warm Welcome Redux

At last we remembered to grab a quick, teaser, picture of the radiator(s) returned from the blasters and ready for some bokoshoko work prior to install. It's difficult to judge the scale but they're not that big (around 60cm long). No point in writing too much just look at them - have you seen anything quite like them before? We definitely haven't and we're really looking forward to getting on with the install even if it's going to mean some long days (and nights) in the "shop"

Radiator? HR Giger concept? Who knows....

Hiding the Everyday

We've got an interesting challenge... how to "hide" 13A socket outlets in the kitchen. We've all seen those great pictures of kitchens in the magazines - have you noticed how there's never any sockets shown? Do you know why?

The answer is because they're not real kitchens, it's just a set well ok that's obvious but the other reason is that they always look nasty. Even when you hit the height of sophistication and opt for "brushed <exotic sounding metallic>" you always end up looking at something with the aesthetic appeal of toilet brush; a triumph of form over function. If you're really unlucky it'll have a dirty great  big red switch and a glowing neon as well.

We've been toying with some ideas around this for a year now; it keeps getting pushed on to the back burner but we should be able to show a prototype later this year. It won't suit all installations but for some it could be just the thing.

This is NOT what we want to see!

Time Flies...

The image below may look like a contemporary christmas wreath but to us it's a day zero icon in a pretty dress. This has been a mad year and looks to be continuing on that trend right up to (hopefully not including) that most festive of days.

Day Zero approaches....

This Week's Obsession: RIBA House of the Year 2015

Time to put aside childish things, re-align priorities and make a mandatory appointment for Wednesday night's on Channel 4 @ 9:00PM as Kevin McCloud, Elle Decoration Editor in Cheif Michelle Ogundehin and others take us through themed category shortlists before announcing which house will go on to the final selection.

This first week was all about rural retreat and the chatter across t'Net was, as predicted, rather polarised; from poncy architects forcing clients to live in Audi showrooms through to flowery languaged praise of <x> architect as the new bringer of light and destroyer of mediocrity.

We didn't like everything, we were surprised (disappointed) that the combination of 4 shipping containers, a beautiful setting and a farming architect didn't make the short list. We couldn't fault the selection of Flint House though - our our portfolio house is knapped flint skinned (and also a lot more humble) so we're slightly biased.

We're looking forward to seeing Pobble House - the location at Dungeness is a bit special, there's a sense of other worldiness down there. To some it appears bleak and the real and imagined shadow cast by the nuclear power station is off-putting but we find it a strangely compelling place and it's well worth the detour if you should find yourself out that way.

    • Seven Days? You What? I mean, pardon?
      • These posts give us a chance to recap on the last week at Bokoshoko and give you a glimpse of what's happening. Many of our projects take time to come to fruition or our customers would prefer we did not share so these posts also show we're not just sitting around!
